The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued to increase its holdings of US Treasury bonds at the end of last September for the third month in a row, recording their highest levels in 9 months, but they declined on an annual basis.

Japan topped the list of largest investors in US Treasury bonds at the end of September 2023. With a total of $1,087.7 billion ($1.087 trillion), followed by China with investments amounting to $778.1 billion, then the United Kingdom with $668.9 billion.

The total value of US bond issuances increased by 4.88% at the end of September 2023 on an annual basis, equivalent to $353.9 billion, but it decreased on a monthly basis by about 1.3%, equivalent to $101.6 billion, compared to the previous month.
