Paypal announced last Friday that all eligible UK customers can now buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency using their PayPal accounts.

Customers can trade 4 major cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

As previously announced, cryptocurrency trading will only be available to PayPal customers with verified identities.

Paypal announced plans to move into the British cryptocurrency market in late August, immediately beginning a partial rollout of cryptocurrency trading services.

This move marks the first expansion of PayPal's cryptocurrency services outside the United States.

Speaking to CoinTelegraph, a PayPal spokesperson said: PayPal has gradually introduced a new cryptocurrency service for its UK customers. This process has been completed.

We are keen to learn and monitor how our customers use, buy and sell our cryptocurrency offer before we start rolling out more features and functionality.

The launch of British cryptocurrency PayPal is a breath of fresh air, according to Gregory Klumoff, CEO of token firm Statis.

As the country is among the world's 10 largest economies, it is clear that such an achievement will drive continued adoption of digital assets in Europe and beyond, said Klumov.
