The value of Dubai's foreign trade in the field of medicines and medical equipment is currently 21.8 billion dirhams in 2019.


According to the Emirates News Agency, the previous value was divided between imports of 16.5 billion dirhams and exports of 590 million dirhams and re-exports of 4.7 billion dirhams, in amounts amounting to about 144 thousand tons, the share of imports, including 96.5 thousand tons, exports 12.7 thousand tons, and re-exports 34.6 thousand Tons.


Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazem, Senior Director of Strategy and Organizational Excellence at Dubai Customs, said that medicine and medical supplies are among the most important strategic materials that the department is keen on reaching markets without delay to ensure their safety and secure the needs of society from them with high efficiency, especially in the current conditions the world is witnessing with escalating demand On these products.


He stressed that Dubai Customs keeps pace with these developments through the advanced equipping of its customs centers, which pays great attention to the safety of drug shipments and the speed of their access to markets.
