The International Labor Organization (ILO) expects the Corona virus epidemic to spark a global economic crisis and destroy up to 25 million jobs worldwide.
According to Reuters, the organization said, but if we see a coordinated international response through policies, such as during the global financial crisis in 2008 and 2009, then the impact on global unemployment may be much less.
The organization called for urgent, widespread and coordinated measures to protect workers in the workplace, stimulate the economy, and support jobs and incomes.
The organization estimates that unemployment worldwide will rise by between 5.3 million in the lowest estimates and 24.7 million in the highest estimates. By comparison, the global financial crisis in 2008 and 2009 increased unemployment around the world by 22 million.
"It is no longer just a global health crisis, it is also a major crisis for the job market and an economic crisis that has a huge impact on people," said Jay Ryder, the organization's director-general.
