The value of remittances of foreign workers in the UAE to abroad reached about 165 billion dirhams in 2019.


According to Emirates News Agency, the latest statistics of the Emirates Central Bank showed that the value of transfers increased by 1.8% during the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter of 2018.


During the period from October to December last year, the percentage of outgoing personal transfers that were settled through banks reached 15.6%, while the rest of the personal transfers carried out through exchange firms were executed.


The following five countries were the most important in the share of outward remittance flows: India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and the United States.


The value of remittances during the third quarter of this year amounted to 43.4 billion dirhams, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period in 2018.


The value of what was settled through the banks decreased by 0.2%, while the value of transfers by exchange companies increased by 6%.
