He added that the rise in inflation is due to increased food and beverage prices by 7.4% and transport prices by 19.3%.


Food and Beverage Department highly affected by rising food prices by 7.3%, which in turn has been affected by higher meat and poultry prices by 6.8%, and vegetable prices by 6.7%.


The Department of Transport increased by 19.3% on higher vehicle purchase prices by 8.7%, and the tobacco department rose 13.3% at an increase of 14.3% cigarette prices.


On a monthly basis, the consumer price index for May 2021, a relatively stable compared to April 2021, rose 0.2%, and the monthly inflation index was highly influenced by an increase of 0.5% and in turn increased by the operation of personal transport equipment by 2.1%.
