Shinzo Abe, the Japanese prime minister, announced that his country will impose a state of emergency in Tokyo and six other provinces, perhaps on Tuesday, in an attempt to stem the spread of the Corona virus.

According to Reuters, Shinzo said: The government is preparing a $ 990 billion stimulus package to reduce economic damage.

Tests showed that more than 3,500 people were infected with the virus in Japan, and 85 people had died, which was not a major outbreak compared to some dangerous outbreaks. But the number continues to rise, worrying in particular about the spread of infection in Tokyo, which recorded more than a thousand infections, including 83 on Monday.

"Given the state of the medical crisis, the government was advised to prepare to declare a state of emergency," Shinzo told reporters.

He added that the government has decided to launch a stimulus package worth about 108 trillion yen, which includes more than six trillion yen in cash payments to families and small businesses and 26 trillion yen to allow deferral of social security payments and taxes.

It is not yet clear how much of this package will be new government spending.

"The government wants to help companies keep up and protect jobs," said Shinzo.
