U.S. crude oil production fell in January to 12.533 million barrels per day, down 6 percent from December, after cold weather disrupted some production.

Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed on Friday that crude oil production in Texas also fell in January to 5.361 million barrels per day, down about 5 percent from the previous month, and production in North Dakota fell about 13 percent to 1.122 million barrels per day.

Crude oil and gasoline inventories in the United States rose, while distillates fell in the week ending March 22.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday that crude inventories rose by 3.2 million barrels to 448.2 million last week, compared with analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll for a rise of 1.3 million barrels.

She added that crude oil inventories at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 2.1 million barrels per day in the week ending March 22.

She added that crude consumption in refineries rose by 147,000 barrels per day in the week ending March 22.
