AWS first launched the Amazon-managed blockchain network in April 2019, saying at the time that customers will be able to create blockchain networks within their organizations, using the Ethereum and Hyperledger frameworks Open source.

The service also claimed that it can eliminate the need to provide hardware, install software, create and manage certificates to control access, and configure network settings.

The move comes exactly one month after Jeff Bezos announced that he would step down as CEO of Amazon in the third quarter of 2021. He will be replaced by Andy Gacy, who is currently CEO of Amazon Web Services and has overseen the company's cryptocurrency product offerings.
