European stocks opened lower on Thursday as regional markets sought to find positive momentum in a turbulent week of trading.
The Stoxx 600 index fell 0.65% in early trading, with most sectors and regional bourses trading in the red. Technology stocks fell 1.44%, while mining stocks slipped 1.5%.
The stocks opened lower today, after regional stocks traded higher on Wednesday, amid a global market trend following a sharp decline at the start of the week. US stocks also rose, halting a three-day losing streak, as investors looked to reduce the losses they incurred at the start of the week.
Futures fell in overnight trading as Wall Street sought to stabilize after sharp swings largely driven by Friday's jobs report, which showed slowing employment growth.
Traders will be closely watching weekly jobless claims, due out Thursday, for a possible spike in layoffs.
While Asian markets witnessed mixed trading after the decline in US stock market indices, investors are assessing trade data issued from Japan, in addition to anticipating the interest rate decision in India.
