The consumer price index (inflation) in Saudi Arabia marginally increased during the month of September compared to the same month of 2020.

Today, Thursday, the monthly report of the General Authority for Statistics revealed that the inflation rate rose by 0.6%, during last September, in light of the increase in transport prices by 5.9%, and food prices. And drinks are about 2.6%.

The report indicated that the food and beverage division recorded a 2.4% increase; Affected by an increase in food prices by 2.6%, which in turn was affected by an increase in vegetable prices by 12.5%, and meat and poultry prices by 2%.

The report continued that the rise in this section had a significant impact on the rise in annual inflation due to its weight in the index.

He explained that the transportation department recorded a 5.9% increase; Affected by the increase in gasoline prices by 44.9%, the Communications Department also recorded a rise of 2.8%; affected by an increase in the prices of telephone and fax services by 4.2%.

The report also showed that the home furnishing and fixtures section recorded a 0.7% increase; affected by an increase in home textile prices by 4.1%.

The restaurants and hotels segment rose 0.7%; affected by an increase in the prices of hotel services and furnished apartments by 3.6%, while education recorded an increase of 0.5%; Affected by the increase in the prices of intermediate and secondary education by about 4.4%.

The miscellaneous personal goods and services section recorded a decrease of 0.2%; affected by the decrease in the prices of jewelry, watches of all kinds and precious antiques by 2.5%.

The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels segment also recorded a decrease of 3%; affected by a 3.6% drop in housing rental prices.
