The Asian Development Bank predicts that developing Asian economies will grow by 5.7% this year compared to 5.9% in 2018, due to trade tensions between the United States and China. < / p>

The bank said in a report entitled Asian Development Prospects 2019 that the expected growth rate is the lowest since 2001 when the growth rate reached 4.9%.

The Manila-based bank also expected GDP in Asia excluding Japan and other industrialized countries to decline to 5.6% in 2020.

"The prolonged or worsening trade conflict between China and the United States can undermine investment and growth in Asian developing countries," said ADB chief economist Yasuyuki Sawada in the report.
