The popular social media platform Twitter on Wednesday added a slew of new payment services to its existing tipping options, including the Ethereum (ETH) cryptocurrency.

Twitter introduced, in September 2021, Bitcoin (BTC) payments as the first cryptocurrency payment option available through a tip pot, Cointelegraph reported.

Users looking to receive tips in Ethereum simply need to enable the platform features, and add an Ethereum address to the dedicated section of their profile.

However, an attempt to add an ENS domain name instead of a full alphanumeric address proved to be unsuccessful, resulting in an error box indicating that the punctuation was invalid.

When it comes to Bitcoin, tips can be sent through the Bitcoin Lightning Network, which sends payments using the Strike app. However, the company did not provide any other details regarding the tip in Ethereum.

Currently, tips are only available for iOS and Android users. According to Twitter, users keep 100% of the tips they receive.

Twitter has said that tips can be used to show support, show appreciation, help, or reward anyone you want - from budding creators and journalists to Twitter Spaces hosts. Other payment services include Cash App, Go Find Me, Patreon, Wealth Simple, and Venmo.
