The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, located in the Asian continent and suffering a severe economic crisis, announced that his country has run out of oil.

Ranil Wickremesinghe explained that his country's authorities had not been able to pay for essential imports.

Wickremesinghe said in a speech on Monday, "We have run out of oil. At the moment we have only enough oil in stock for a day."

He warned that his country, which has declared default on its foreign debt, may face more difficulties in the coming months.
