The Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Abdul Hamid Al Khalifa, announced the approval of the 166th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Fund new funds worth $ 303 million to enhance development in some Developing countries.

The funds will be used to support vital projects for the public sector in Honduras, Madagascar, the Maldives, Senegal, Suriname and Uzbekistan,

He added that the allocated funds will finance projects in the transportation, water and energy sectors in the beneficiary countries.

The council also approved, according to the statement, the approval of a grant of $ 300,000 to enhance access to safe drinking water for rural residents in the pastoral areas of Chad.
