Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Textile and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631), which rose 9.93% or 441.00 points to trade at 4,881.00 at the close. Meanwhile, IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) added 5.44% or 382.00 points to end at 7,406.00 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) was up 5.29% or 244.00 points to 4,860.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723), which fell 4.74% or 100.50 points to trade at 2,018.00 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) fell 4.25% or 210.00 points to end at 4,734.00 and Kyowa Kirin Co Ltd (TYO:4151) was down 3.40% or 109.00 points to 3,100.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1,825 to 1,785, while 268 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.20% to 25.73.

WTI crude oil futures for November delivery rose 1.24% or 0.87 to $71.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil futures for December delivery rose 1.08% or 0.79 to $74.00 a barrel, while the December gold contract fell 0.06% or 1.70 to $2,650.80 a troy ounce.

The USD/JPY pair added 0.54% and traded at 144.37, while the EUR/JPY pair continued to rise by 0.51% and reached 160.35.

Dollar index futures were trading 0.18% higher at 100.75.
