Nvidia revealed that it owns a stake in SpaceX worth nearly $21 billion, while simultaneously increasing its investment in Intel shares to approximately $30 billion, according to a regulatory filing released on Friday.
The disclosure showed that the chipmaker owned approximately 122.8 million shares in SpaceX, along with approximately 214.8 million shares in Intel, as of June 30.
This is the first time Nvidia has disclosed the value of its investment in SpaceX, a move that highlights the company's expanding investments beyond its core businesses in chipmaking and artificial intelligence.
Nvidia had previously invested in billionaire Elon Musk’s AI startup XAI, before the company later merged with SpaceX, just before the company’s historic IPO.
Meanwhile, the value of Nvidia’s holding of Intel shares has jumped to about $30 billion, compared to about $9.5 billion just three months ago, according to previous regulatory disclosures, reflecting a sharp rise in the value of the investment over a short period of time.
These investments highlight Nvidia’s growing involvement in companies directly or indirectly related to artificial intelligence and technology infrastructure, at a time when the company seeks to strengthen its position within the advanced technology ecosystem and capitalize on the rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence technologies.
