Bitcoin edged higher on Tuesday, continuing to move within a narrow trading range, while Strategy&, the largest institutional holder of the digital currency, revealed it had sold more of its holdings in recent weeks.
General caution, stemming from conflicting signals regarding US-Iranian negotiations, along with a wave of weak corporate earnings results, kept cryptocurrency markets within narrow trading ranges.
Bitcoin rose 1.8% to $63,755.10. The world's largest cryptocurrency had briefly surpassed $64,000.00 earlier in the day.
The world's largest cryptocurrency was also affected by a high-profile hack targeting the cold storage of CoinKite, a Canadian company specializing in cryptocurrency wallets. Cold storage is generally considered the most secure way to store cryptocurrencies, but the hack resulted in the theft of approximately $90 million worth of Bitcoin, according to reports.

Strategy& (NASDAQ:MSTR) revealed on Monday that it sold 1,683 units of Bitcoin, worth approximately $104,700,000.00, during the past week.
These sales represent the third such sale by the company, reducing its holdings to 842,138 units of Bitcoin as of Tuesday.
The disclosure of these sales came just days after Strategy& announced significantly larger-than-expected second-quarter losses. These losses stemmed largely from unrealized losses on the company's Bitcoin holdings, with the average purchase price at $75,419.00 per unit—a level considerably higher than the current spot price of the currency.
The disappointing earnings results of cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN) also negatively impacted sector sentiment.
Cryptocurrency prices today: Altcoins rise amid mixed signals on Iran
Cryptocurrency prices rose slightly on Tuesday, amid limited positive signals for the sector.
Ether, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency, rose 0.7% to $1,856.84, while Ripple (XRP) rose 0.5% to $1.07.
Solana also rose by 1.2%, while Cardano jumped by 6.6%, and BNP Paribas added 1.1%.
The two meme currencies, Dogecoin and Trump ($TRUMP), rose by 1.1% and 1.8% respectively.
Signals regarding the US-Iran conflict have been mixed, with US President Donald Trump asserting that talks with Iran are still ongoing, while Tehran has largely denied that any negotiations are taking place.
However, the United States appears to have suspended its military operations against Iran, which has bolstered some optimism that the conflict can be contained. In contrast, oil prices have fallen sharply since the beginning of the week.
