Caution prevailed in US stock futures during trading on Monday, with the performance of the main indices varying, amid concerns about rising oil prices and their impact on inflation, coinciding with the approaching announcement of results from major banks and the release of important economic data this week.
Dow Jones futures rose slightly by 0.06%, S&P 500 futures climbed by about 0.03%, while Nasdaq 100 futures fell by 0.23%, as pressure continued on technology stocks.
According to Reuters, the anticipation came as Brent crude rose above $106 a barrel, its highest level in two weeks, following attacks on Riyadh's international airport, raising new concerns about global energy supplies.
Meanwhile, markets are gearing up for the start of the earnings season for major US banks on Tuesday, with the London Stock Exchange Group forecasting a 30.6% increase in profits for Standard & Poor's 500 companies during the third quarter.
Attention is also focused on the anticipated US inflation data due on Wednesday, with expectations that annual inflation will accelerate to 3.7%, while markets estimate the likelihood of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates during October at around 19%, making corporate results and price indices crucial factors in determining the direction of Wall Street during the upcoming sessions.
