British oil company BP plans to lay off 10 thousand employees, in light of the repercussions of the Corona epidemic.

According to Arabia Net, CEO of the company, Bernard Looney, said in an internal memo, that the company will reduce the number of its employees by about 14%.

The move will mostly affect office workers, senior staff, and the largest 400 positions in the company will be cut by about a third.

Senior management will not receive an annual increase this year, while junior and intermediate employees will receive the increase starting in October.

The employees will not be included in the filling stations in the company’s reorganization currency because they are considered front-line workers, and their wages increased in April and will rise again in August.
