Monitoring .. the assets of "Sama" Saudi Arabia trillion for the first time in 2007

The assets of SAMA jumped to the level of one trillion riyals for the first time in 2007, when they went up to about 1.2 trillion riyals, up from 884.3 billion riyals in the previous year.

According to a monitoring prepared by Namazone, based on Sama data, the assets recorded the highest peak in 2014, at 2.79 trillion riyals, and then decreased since that date, until the end of 2018.

SAMA assets consist of foreign and gold cash, cash in the fund, deposits with banks abroad, investments in securities abroad, as well as various other assets.

Sama's assets recorded consecutive increases over the past 5 consecutive years, during the years from 2010, when they recorded 1.7 trillion riyals until the year 2014.

Assets retreated over 4 consecutive years, starting in 2015, when they recorded 2.37 trillion riyals, reaching the end of 2008 to about 1.9 trillion riyals.

Billion dollar assets as of 2006

Sama's assets remained below the level of one trillion riyals until 2006, when they reached about 884.3 billion riyals, up from 619.4 billion riyals in 2005.

Total assets recorded the lowest level at 197.94 billion riyals, at the end of 2002, down from 224.47 billion riyals, in 2001.

During the period from 2000 to 2006, Sama's assets recorded a decline in two consecutive years, then went up for a period of 4 years.

Total assets decreased during 2001 and 2002 to 224.47 billion riyals and 197.94 billion riyals, respectively, and rose to 272.7 billion riyals in the year 2003.

Quarterly performance variance

At the quarterly level, during 2018, SAMA assets came to be mixed, compared to 2017.

Assets recorded a decline in the first quarter of last year, to about 1.91 trillion riyals, compared to 1.97 trillion riyals, in the same quarter of 2017.

Total assets increased marginally in the second quarter of last year, compared to the same period in the previous year, recorded a noticeable increase in the third quarter, and decreased again in the fourth quarter.

Regarding the monthly performance of SAMA assets, Sama witnessed a decline in the first months of 2018, and then headed for a rise, compared to the same months of 2017.
