New record levels for US stock indexes at the end of the weekend session

U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close of trading in New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.97%, hitting an all-time high, while the S&P 500 rose 0.35% and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.15%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 4.10% or 5.88 points to trade at 149.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) added 3.06% or 2.30 points to end at 77.40 and American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) was up 2.83% or 8.30 points to 301.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Group (NASDAQ:NVDA), which fell 3.27% or 4.79 points to trade at 141.88 at the close. Unitedhealth Group (NYSE:UNH) declined 1.12% or 6.71 points to end at 590.78 and Merck & Co (NYSE:MRK) was down 0.68% or 0.68 points to 99.18.

On the other hand, the best performance in the S&P 500 was recorded by Super Micro Compu (NASDAQ:SMCI), which rose by 11.62% to 33.15, Copart Inc (NASDAQ:CPRT) which also continued to rise by 10.19% and closed at 62.70, as well as Moderna Biotechnology (NASDAQ:MRNA) which rose by 7.48% and closed at 41.11.

The worst performing stocks today were Intuit Inc (NASDAQ:INTU), which fell 5.68% to 640.12, Palo Alto Networks Inc (NASDAQ:PANW), which lost 3.58% to settle at 383.46 and NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:NTAP), which was down 3.43% to 122.34 at the close.

On the other hand, the best performance in the NASDAQ was recorded by Palladyne AI Corp (NASDAQ:PDYN), which rose by 130.00% to 4.60, Quantum Corp (NASDAQ:QMCO) which also continued to rise by 127.11% and closed at 9.13, and Nano Labs Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:NA) which rose by 89.02% and closed at 8.26.

The worst performers today were Autonomix Medical Inc (NASDAQ:AMIX), which fell 53.55% to 6.28, Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ:CETX), which lost 41.59% to settle at 0.11 and Ensysce Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:ENSC), which fell 27.41% to 0.43 in the session.

Advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2,088 to 719, while 84 ended unchanged. On the Nasdaq, 2,301 stocks advanced, 988 declined and 128 stocks held steady.

Copart Inc (NASDAQ:CPRT) stock rose to a new all-time high, up 10.19% or 5.80 points to 62.70. American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) stock rose to a new all-time high, up 2.83% or 8.30 points to 301.30. Palladyne AI Corp (NASDAQ:PDYN) stock rose to a new 52-week high, up 130.00% or 2.60 points to 4.60. Autonomix Medical Inc (NASDAQ:AMIX) stock fell to a new all-time low, falling 53.55% or 7.24 points to 6.28. Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ:CETX) stock hit a new all-time low, losing 41.59% or 0.08 to 0.11.
