The statistical indicator issued by the Saudi Ports Authority showed that the total cargo handling in ports increased by 11.3% last February on an annual basis, to reach 21 million tons.

The index also showed that the total number of containers handled during the past month increased by 5.1%, to 532 thousand containers, compared to the same period in 2017.
The number of passengers during the month of February reached about 95 thousand passengers.
The General Authority for Ports is a government agency that oversees Saudi ports. It was established in 1976 as an independent agency, and over time it has moved into operation.
