< Etihad Airways has asked the aircraft crews to get paid leave next month because of the decline in demand for travel due to the spread of the Corona virus.

According to Reuters, a spokeswoman for the company said global restrictions on travel and changes in events have caused many travelers to change their travel arrangements, and the airline among many companies is reorganizing resources to adapt to these changes.

An internal e-mail, which did not refer to the virus, included an encouragement for aircraft crews to submit the dates of any vacation plans of any timing later this year to between April 6 and May 5.

She said that those who have requested longer leave periods will have preference, and that the flight crews can take group leave for six, 12 or 18 days.

This is a great opportunity to take some time to rest, relax, unwind and party with family and friends, said the message sent to the staff.

Global airlines are asking employees to consider getting paid or unpaid leave, including Emirates Airlines, as declining travel demand and HIV-related restrictions lead to cancellation of flights.

Etihad Airways said it does not require employees to take unpaid leave.

In the past few years, Etihad Airways, owned by the Abu Dhabi government, has cut jobs, airlines and orders to purchase billions of dollars in aircraft, while the size of its operations has shrunk dramatically.
