The index of the industrial production quantities in Saudi Arabia increased by 26.7% in April 2022, compared to the same month of 2021, as it continued to achieve positive growth trends, due to the increase in production in mining, quarrying and manufacturing activities, according to the data of the General Authority. According to Arabiya Net, the annual growth rate in the industrial production index recorded last April the highest annual growth rate in nearly 3 years.


Looking at the long term; It can be seen that the growth of the industrial production index has become positive since May 2021, and continued its upward trend during the following months, accelerating at the end of 2021 until now, after a series of months that witnessed negative growth rates in 2019 and 2020 partially affected by the effects of the global epidemic.


The relative importance of mining, quarrying, manufacturing, electricity and gas supply activities reached 74.5%, 22.6%, and 2.9%, respectively, and therefore the trends of the industrial production index in mining and quarrying activity dominate the general trend in the industrial production index.


In April 2022, production in mining and quarrying activity increased by 28.3% compared to the same month of 2021, as Saudi Arabia increased its oil production to reach its highest level by more than 10 million barrels per day in April of this year.


The activity of the manufacturing industry also continued to rise, affected by the revival of international trade, as the performance of the activity increased by 25.1% compared to the same month of 2021.


The general index of industrial production rose by 0.5% last April, on a monthly basis, affected by the increase in mining and quarrying activity, which rose by 1.3%, while the manufacturing activity decreased by 2%.
