On Monday, August 14, the yen fell to its lowest levels in the year against the dollar, dropping below the 145 level before catching some breath, while the dollar rose to its highest level in more than a month.
The yen fell to a low of 145.22 per dollar in early Asian trade, its lowest since November 10, before quickly reversing course in a volatile start to the week.
And it recorded in the latest transactions 144.92 per dollar, an increase of 0.03%.
Green and Europe's single currency
The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against six major currencies, rose 0.097% to 102.95, after touching the highest level in more than a month at 103.02.
The euro fell 0.12% to $1.0931, and the British pound fell 0.15% to $1.2675.
The Australian dollar fell 0.42% to $0.6470, while the New Zealand dollar fell 0.36% to $0.5963.
