Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah announced that the government intends in the future to reduce the percentage of foreign workers in stages to reach 30%.

According to Arabiya Net, Al-Sabah said that the country suffers from a demographic imbalance that is represented by a very high rate of foreign employment in it, which currently stands at 70% of the total population.

The Prime Minister said, yesterday, Wednesday, according to what was quoted by the official news agency KUNA that the population of about 4,8 million people represents the number of Kuwaitis, including about 1 , 45 million people and non-Kuwaitis, about 3.35 million people, or 30% of Kuwaitis and 70% of non-Kuwaitis.

He added during a meeting with the editors of local newspapers that the ideal situation for the demographic makeup is that the percentage of Kuwaitis is 70% and the proportion of non-Kuwaitis 30%, so we have a great challenge ahead of us. The future is to address the demographic imbalance.

He explained that the demographics file needs time during which the file is divided into phases until a final modification of the demographic disorder is reached in the future.

The Prime Minister affirmed that addressing this imbalance is done by Kuwaitis taking over all jobs in all professions, noting that many residents in the country work in all vital sectors that provide direct services to the state All thanks and appreciation to them and they deserve moral and material support.

Like other Gulf states, such as the UAE and Qatar, Kuwait, the oil-rich country, relies heavily in many professions and sectors on foreign labor coming, especially from the Middle East. And Southeast Asia.
