Japan plans to redesign its banknotes to incorporate the latest anti-counterfeiting technology, according to Japan's Arabic website.

The image of Umiko Tsuda, a pioneer in the education of women in Japan, will appear on the 5000 Yen banknote category. It is the institution of the University of Tsuda in Tokyo, and on the 1,000 yen banknote category a photo of the bacteriologist Shibasaburo Kitasato, a developer of tetanus, will appear.
