Lucid Motors' stock closed at $4.55 at the end of trading on Tuesday, down 6.19% in a single session, continuing a sharp decline that has pushed the stock's losses over the last 12 months to 74.24%, amid strong pressure on the company and investors as management tries to readjust its operating model, improve liquidity, and reduce costs, while simultaneously expanding manufacturing within Saudi Arabia and launching new products targeting wider markets.
The stock's movement reflects a highly complex picture; although revenues and deliveries continue to grow, markets are focusing more on the company's ability to convert this growth into sustainable cash flows, reduce losses, and control the rate of cash consumption.
Data reveals that Lucid Motors stock is currently under exceptional technical pressure, with technical signals issuing a strong sell recommendation across all timeframes, from short to long, indicating that the downward trend is still dominant in the stock's movement.
At the same time, Lucid is trying to move into a new phase focused on operational discipline and improving financial efficiency, while maintaining its investments in new technology and products, and expanding its manufacturing presence in Saudi Arabia.
Revenue growth is not enough to reassure investors.
Despite the sharp decline in the stock price, the company's operational picture is not without positive indicators. Lucid's revenue rose during the second quarter to $405 million, a 56% year-over-year increase, while vehicle deliveries reached 3,953 cars, a 19% increase compared to the same period last year.
However, management made a deliberate decision to reduce production to match supply with demand, reduce inventory and maintain liquidity, given the continued financial pressures facing the company.
Total liquidity reached approximately $3 billion by the end of the second quarter, a level that gives the company room to maneuver, but at the same time comes amid significant capital and operational needs, making cash management a crucial element in determining Lucid's ability to implement its plan in the coming period.
In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Lucid Motors CEO and Board Member Silvio Napoli said the company has identified four key priorities for the next phase: improving cash flow and costs, developing a self-driving taxi program, completing the transition of the AMP-2 plant in Saudi Arabia to integrated manufacturing, and moving forward with the mid-size vehicle program to launch readiness.
The company aims to save $1.4 billion during 2026 by improving costs and cash flow, a move that reflects how important cost control is to Lucid’s strategy at this stage.
4 key areas that define the new phase at Lucid
The first focus is on liquidity and costs, as Lucid seeks to reduce spending and improve operational efficiency, which will help it extend the period of use of available liquidity and reduce the pressures on its budget.
The second focus is the self-driving taxi program, which the company is developing in collaboration with Uber and Nuro. This project could give Lucid a foothold in the self-driving mobility market if it succeeds in turning the technology into a scalable commercial application.
The third focus is on completing integrated manufacturing in Saudi Arabia through the AMP-2 plant, while the fourth focus is on the medium-sized vehicle program, which represents an important bet on expanding the base of products and markets targeted by the company.

Napoli emphasized that Lucid possesses leading technologies and outstanding products, but at the same time it is working to address financial challenges at the implementation level, by focusing on 3 key pillars that include liquidity and costs, customers and quality, and corporate culture and team.
Napoli's remarks came on the sidelines of the launch of the fifth edition of the LEAP 2026 conference in Riyadh, under the slogan New Worlds, where Lucid is participating to showcase its latest technologies in the electric vehicle industry.
Why did Lucid Motors' stock drop yesterday?
The stock's 6.19% decline yesterday coincided with three key factors that increased the pressure on investors.
The first factor is the continuing fallout from the massive recall announced by the company on August 28, 2026, when it decided to recall 27,185 Air vehicles due to a fire risk related to the exterior lighting circuit.
This recall represents a significant challenge for the company, as the number of recalled vehicles exceeds Lucid's total sales during 2025, which amounted to 15,841 vehicles, highlighting the scale of the issue compared to the company's current fleet base.
The second factor is the weak performance of the broader technology market, with the Nasdaq index falling 1.03% during Tuesday's session, which usually increases pressure on high-risk stocks, including Lucid.
The third factor is that new management appointments alone cannot change investors’ perceptions. The company announced on August 28 the appointment of three new executive directors, but the market is currently looking for indicators more closely related to sales, revenues, and cash flows.
July crash reveals the stock's fragility
The stock’s current performance cannot be understood without going back to July 14, 2026, when Lucid’s stock plummeted by 51% in a single session.
The severity of the decline was enough to cause a leveraged exchange-traded fund (ETF) linked to the stock to lose its entire value before the fund was finally closed.
This reflects the high volatility that investors in the stock can face, especially given the sensitivity of electric vehicle stocks to expectations regarding growth, financing, liquidity, and production.
Severe bleeding across different time horizons
At Tuesday's close, Lucid Motors' stock price was $4.55, while the company's market capitalization was approximately $1.79 billion.
The stock lost 8.08% in one week, 38.35% in one month, and 54.64% in six months, while its losses over the past 12 months amounted to 74.24%. The stock's 52-week low is $2.37.
These figures show that the current decline is not just a reaction to a single piece of news, but rather comes within an extended downward trend that has seen a significant erosion in the stock's market value.
Technical analysis triggers a strong sell signal.
The available analytical tools reveal a highly negative technical picture for Lucid Motors stock.
A strong sell signal is issued across all timeframes, indicating the consistency of the downward trend and the absence of a clear technical reversal so far.
The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) is around 31.5, a level close to the oversold zone at 30, which means that the stock is close to levels that may witness a technical rebound, but this does not necessarily mean the end of the downtrend.
The MACD indicator is also recording around -0.441, which reflects the continuation of the negative momentum, while the ADX trend indicator is around 75.6, a high level that reflects the strength of the prevailing trend.

The SMA and EMA moving averages are issuing sell signals, while the stock is trading below its main moving averages.
The first resistance is at $4.98, while the support level appears at $4.69, according to the data used in the analysis.
Financial fundamentals pose significant challenges
At a basic level, Lucid faces a range of challenges that make cost reduction and maintaining liquidity a top priority.
The EBITDA index, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, is recording about -$3.05 billion, while net debt is about $1.57 billion.
The return on shareholders’ equity is approximately negative 160.4%, which reflects the extent of the pressure the company faces in achieving a positive return on the capital invested by shareholders.
Hence, the plan to save $1.4 billion during 2026 is of great importance, as the company’s success in reducing costs and improving cash flows could be a key factor in changing the market valuation of the stock.
Is there a chance of recovery despite the collapse?
Despite the negative picture, one notable point emerges in specific data related to fair value.
Fair value estimates point to a level of $6.51 per share, compared to a market price of $4.55, which equates to a potential upside of 27.8%.
However, this ratio does not necessarily mean that the stock will reach this level, but rather reflects the difference between the current price and the estimated fair value according to the model used, with the realization of this scenario remaining linked to improved execution, control of the cash burn rate, and improved operational performance.
Between the recovery scenario and the risks of continued bleeding
In the positive scenario, Lucid has a number of strengths that could help it regain market confidence, most notably strategic support from the Public Investment Fund, plans related to industrial expansion in Saudi Arabia, the mid-size vehicle program, and the self-driving taxi project in cooperation with Uber and Nuro.
The new leadership appointments, along with experience associated with global companies such as Mercedes and Hyundai, could support efforts to rebuild operations and improve performance.
But the negative scenario remains strongly present, with the continued cash drain, rising financing needs, the repercussions associated with the large recall, the continued downward technical trend, as well as concerns regarding the possibility of a capital increase and the resulting dilution of ownership for current shareholders.
Thus, Lucid Motors' stock faces a difficult equation: technological potential, new products, and strategic Saudi support in the face of deep financial losses, cash pressure, and a highly negative technical trend.
Ultimately, a fair value estimate of $6.51, roughly 27.8% higher than the current price, might be a point worth considering, but it doesn't negate the significant risks surrounding the stock. The shift from promises and plans to actual sales, costs, and cash flow will remain the most crucial factor in determining whether the current decline represents a temporary crisis or reflects a deeper structural problem.
This remains the type of picture in which the investor benefits from combining advanced analytical tools, financial data and real-time news, rather than relying on a single indicator or single price movement.
